Mental health and well-being have become issues that many famous personalities are talking about openly. Last year’s Love Island season went over and beyond in taking care of the contestant’s mental health. Advocating the need to prioritize mental health, Molly-Mae admitted in her recent YouTube Vlog that she got a therapist recently.

Need of the hour

Molly-Mae went for an interview on The Diary of a CEO podcast in December 2021. The PrettyLittleThing creative director spoke about having the same 24 hours in the day for everyone. The particular line met with a huge backlash on social media and people blasted her for tone-deaf remarks. In her Q&A YouTube video earlier this month, she accepted that she struggled with her mental health during that time. Talking about her mental health, she told her subscribers:

I did get a therapist. I got it a few months ago because I thought at the time I really, really needed it.
She helped me understand it's good for me to control my thoughts, that's something I've been working on recently and my next goal is to continue working on being in a good place mentally.

Explaining that she is loved and everyone around her supports her, Molly added that she can speak to Tommy or people around her about her problems but she didn’t want to burden them. Molly added:

I hate to burden people around me with my problems. Like, I could definitely sit there all day and talk to Tommy about how I’m feeling, but sometimes I feel like I don’t want to put that on them.
They've got their own things to worry about. I kind of felt like if I got a therapist this would be a good place for me to offload and just talk about how I'm feeling.

Mental health check

The former Love Island star continued to admit in the YouTube video that she’s learnt to grow a thick skin after the fierce criticism. The 22-year-old star claims to be immune to the negativity and hate she encounters. She explained:

I've had to grow such thick skin over the last six months and learn that not everyone isn't going to like you.
