Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis made the headlines during their very publicised divorce, but the couple had been called out for bad behaviour before. Indeed, their former nanny gave a bombshell interview to the Daily Mail, explaining their explosive arguments, and claiming Wilde had left her husband for Harry Styles.
While the actress explained her marriage was over ‘long before I met Harry’, the nanny claims Sudeikis found out about the affair while they were still together. The actors shared a joint statement, reacting to the allegations:
‘As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly.’
The diva has been called out for bad behaviour several times over her decades-long career. In 2019, a former nanny sued Mariah Carey and her ex-husband Nick Cannon after she claims she worked 100 hours per week, and was never paid overtime.
Mariah Carey is widely known for being a diva. Several former employees have spoken out about her ridiculous demands, such as having her dressing room covered in butterflies, or forcing her entourage to literally carry her around.
American actor Christian Bale has been called out for his violent tantrums on set. Fellow actor Hugh Grant said he pulled a ‘Christian Bale’ when he shouted at some co-stars on set.
While the acting community largely praises Christian Bale's Oscar-worthy performances, many have also explained they find him ‘difficult to work with’. Former employees have claimed the actor demands they smell his armpits before events, as well as making them carry his socks around.
Over the years, Naomi Campbell has been accused of hitting and verbally abusing several employees and journalists.
In 1998, supermodel Naomi Campbell was sued by a former employee for hitting her in the head with a cell phone. She pleaded guilty and walked free.
Iconic Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone has been accused of being difficult on set and in her private life by several co-stars and former employees.
In 2012, the actress was sued by a former nanny for harrasment and wrongful termination. She was also accused of forbidding the nanny to speak to the kids, and belittling her religion and Filipino culture.
Meghan Markle has often been criticised for her actions toward employees. In 2018, while she lived in the UK, the Duchess was called ‘difficult’ and two former employees accused her of bullying her staff.
In 2024, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, some ex-employees of the Duchess accused her of belittling her staff, and they said everyone was terrified of her. She has been dubbed as a ‘dictator in high heels’.
American singer and body-positive activist Lizzo was accused of harassing her dancers in 2024. After the singer claimed she would quit over the accusations, they said:
‘She has thrown these childish tantrums before. No one actually believes she is quitting music. But she should quit sexually harassing, shaming and bullying her employees and finally accept responsibility for her actions.’
Lizzo has also been sued by former costume designer Asha Daniels, who accused her of creating a ‘culture of racism and bullying’ in her workplace. The singer has denied these accusations vehemently.
While shooting Snow White and the Hunter, Kristen Stewart was caught having an affair with the director, which caused violent backlash from her fans, who accused her of cheating on Robert Pattinson.
On top of these accusations, former employees also claimed the actress did not respect her house staff, as she allegedly left cigarette butts all over the home, including in the shower.
The former Hollywood power couple was accused by a former house employee of being dirty. The staff claims they left rotten food in the fridge, and never cleaned up after themselves.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were sued by a former employee in 2010 for wrongful termination after she was fired from their vineyard in the South of France. However, the case was dismissed two years later.
Controversial icon Courtney Love was sued by two former employees in 2012. They accused her of withholding their pay, and making them work overtime with compensation.
The singer was found guilty by the court, and she was forced to pay $35,000 in compensation to her two former employees.
Over the years, Kanye West, now Ye, has been accused of throwing tantrums when he didn't get what he wanted. Former employees also claimed her fired his staff without reason.
On top of his ‘difficult’ behaviour, the rapper was also called out by his own fans for his political views, especially his friendship with Donald Trump, and his conspiracy theories.
The most American of British presenters, James Corden, was called out for his bad behaviour in 2022. He is said to have been extremely rude to the staff at a restaurant, even clicking his fingers to get their attention.
The comedian immediately apologised, and the restaurant owner gave him a second chance by lifting the ban he had placed on James Corden.
American superstar host Ellen DeGeneres has faced allegations of bad behaviour over the years. On a Dutch TV show, youtuber NikkieTutorials revealed the presenter was ‘cold and distant’ once the cameras were off.
In 2019, actress Dakota Johnson famously called out Ellen DeGeneres live on her own show. While the host said she was disappointed not to be invited to the actress' birthday, she replied:
‘Actually, no, that’s not the truth, Ellen. Ask everybody. Ask Jonathan, your producer.’
While the actress is critically acclaimed for her book club and subsequent producer role in adaptations, she was under fire a few years ago. In 2013, when her husband was arrested for a DUI, she reportedly lost it, shouting:
‘Do you know my name? . . . You’re about to find out who I am.’
The ordeal led to her being arrested as well, which quickly made the news. Soon after, she released a statement, apologizing for her behaviour:
‘The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behaviour.’
Tom Cruise has been called out for his lack of interest in his daughter, Suri, which he has not seen since he split from her mother, Katie Holmes. That's not all though.
In 2020, the actor was caught on tape yelling abuse and violently insulting his team during the shooting of Mission: Impossible 7. He has not reacted to the ordeal.
