According to TMZ, the conviction comes along with a twenty-five year security period. The rapper's older brother was charged with raping his ex-wife’s 11-year-old daughter. The young victim said that she was repeatedly, up to four times a week, raped by the Maraj while her mom was at work.Nicki's brother always denied the claims, but the DNA evidence that was found on the girl's pyjama was linked to Maraj.
Jelani Maraj's lawyers had appealed the first conviction in 2018 claiming that his ex-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, had manipulated her children (her son had also testified against Maraj) to blackmail him and try to extort $25 million from his famous sister. The appeal was dismissed last October.
Maraj said in court that he had an alcohol problem and asked for a second chance. Maraj was found guilty of the charges.
Nicki Minaj, who was to testify on behalf of his older brother, was not called to the stand and made no comments on the matter. She simply visited her brother at the start of his detention and helped pay his $100,000 bail.
