The death of Paul O’Grady, while touching for a lot of people, has been most difficult to deal with for his partner of 17 years, husband Andre Portasio.
Very recently Portasio opened up about how he is doing a couple of months after the passing of his beloved.
Paul O’Grady’s sudden death was ‘such a shock’
In an interview Andre Portasio gave to the Daily Star on Sunday, the ballet dancer confesses how difficult losing Paul so suddenly has been.
He says:
I am trying to take it day by day... at the moment I am coping. It was such a shock for me to lose him. It was a shock to all of us. It was so unexpected. I am still digesting it all
Andre Portasio also acknowledged how amazing the responses to Paul’s death have been. Saying that he has been ‘amazed’ by all the love he has received.

In his interview which was released the same day Paul O’Grady was awarded a LGBT Award he continues:
I have kept myself to myself since Paul died. This is the first day I have actually left home
Indeed, Andre Portasio attended and accepted the award in his late’s husband name.
Tributes to Paul O'Grady continue
The same evening, other performers have paid tribute to a ‘truly iconic member of the LGBT+ community’ such as Julian Clary.
On Instagram, Andre keeps Paul’s memory alive. On June 14 he posted a happy birthday message.
He states:
Myself and the dogs miss you lots and we can only wish you were here with us. Love you always
