As Paul O’Grady’s - who had ongoing health issues - loved ones opened up about the 67-year-old star’s life and career, one of his close friends had a surprising revelation about him. According to the friend, Paul O’Grady had to ‘give up a job he loved’ to progress his career.
The ‘heartbreaking decision’ was made because of financial woes at that time. According to the Mirror, when Paul settled in London, he split his time between working as a social worker in Camden and performing as Lily Savage. His friend revealed:
He was really into his job, being a social worker was his calling but he had to give up the work because he could only spread himself so thinly.
