The Kardashian-Jenner clan have long been upheld as the embodiment of beauty standards. As a family of models, fashionistas and even a beauty mogul such as billionaire Kylie Jenner, it has been easy to see why fans would place the celebrities on that specific pedestal.

However, a close-up photo of Kim Kardashian's face reveals just how ridiculous some beauty standards can be as she seems to have skin that looks just like everyone else's.

The photo was taken when the reality tv star and her celebrity husband Kanye West were watching an LA Lakers game alongside Friends actress, Courteney Cox.

The photo shows some up-close detail of Kim's face complete with pores, bumps and lines proving once again that beauty standards are often edited, idealised versions of people.

Fans took to Reddit to discuss the image in a sub entitled r/Instagramreality exclaiming their bewilderment at how 'realistic' Kardashian-West's skin looks. Many even exclaimed how relieved they were that she has skin similar to their own, making them feel a whole lot less self-conscious:

One Redditor even claims that the beauty industry was never meant to be realistic, but instead a hoax to make people go out and buy more skincare products:

Nevertheless, let's hope that this photo means more people will be empowered to be comfortable in their own skin.
