Thanks to his work, Peter has had the pleasure and honour of meeting the late Queen three times during his career. However, his last visit may have landed him on the permanent ‘don’t invite back’ list.
Peter Andre believes he’s unofficially banned from Buckingham Palace
The 51-year-old last visited the Palace for a Duke of Edinburgh Award ceremony. According to The Sun, Peter made a ‘catastrophic’ blunder when he met the late Queen inside Buckingham Palace. Reportedly, he destroyed palace property that aides assured him would have made the Queen very unhappy.
Talking about his experience, the singer shared that he dropped some black coffee on a carpet while making a joke. He told The Times:
I was telling a joke when I knocked over my black coffee and it stained this beautiful red carpet.
One of the staff joked: ‘One square metre of this carpet costs more than your house.’
As I left, a security guard at the front gate said: 'Her Majesty is not going to be happy.' They all knew about it before I’d left the building.
Realising his clumsiness may have cost more than he might have thought, Peter hinted that he may be ‘no longer welcome’ at the Palace. He revealed:
Put it this way, I’ve not had an invitation back.
Other celebrities who have acted out of order in Buckingham Palace
Lucky for Peter, he’s not the only one who has done some out of order at the Palace. In a 2019 report by BBC, a list of all the celebs who have done something silly or misbehaved at the Palace was released. It included the following names:
Denise Van Outen
The TV presenter apologised after ‘borrowing’ an ashtray and a tissue box holder from the palace in 1998. She eventually sent it back with a personal note to the Queen.
Emma Bunton
During the concert for the Golden Jubilee in 2002, the Spice Girl singer ‘pinched a sign for the ladies' loos.’
Piers Morgan
The Good Morning Britain presenter stole toilet paper from the Palace’s loo.
Olivia Colman
Olivia Colman’s husband, like Piers Morgan, ‘stole some loo roll just to say we got it from Buckingham Palace.’
The Beatles
The Beatles allegedly smoked cannabis in the Palace loo before collecting their MBEs in 1965, as per John Lennon. However, George Harrison later argued that it was just a cigarette that they smoked because they were nervous.
Robbie Williams
The Angels singer denied getting sick at the Palace but ended up revealing that he ‘smoked a spliff in Buckingham Palace’ in 2017.
Stephen Fry
The Comedian and writer is a friend of King Charles, who previously admitted to taking cocaine in the palace.
