However, this year’s ceremony promises to be a bit odd. Indeed, since the beginning of the year, British TV has been rocked by many scandals. One of them was about Phillip Schofield who shocked the industry and viewers when he left This Morning after 21 years of hosting the show.

A love declaration to Phillip Schofield
An article from Express released today, 5 September 2023, tells the story of an event that took place at the 2018 National Television Awards.
According to the tabloid, Phillip Schofield had invited his lover to the ceremony and he was even on stage when the show won an award. But while this is already a little juicy to have your lover and your wife in attendance, that is not the core of the story.
According to Express and the Daily Mail,Phillip Schofield’s lover allegedly declared his love to the presenter in front of all This Morning’s staff present at the award show. The Daily Mail wrote:

ITV's 2018 investigation
This 2018 alleged confession is reported to come a mere two weeks before Phillip Schofield came out as gay on Instagram and on This Morning. Whether or not the two events are linked is unclear.
Within the same year, ITV launched an investigation after rumours of Schofield and this member of staff were going around, but nothing was found at the time. Indeed, both parties denied any involvement which they took back in 2023 when the scandal broke out.

I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.
In an effort to protect my ex-colleague I haven’t been truthful about the relationship
