His current relationship is with Celia Walden and she has a very impressive career of her own. Walden also has a famous father and is a published author. Let’s take a look at Celia Walden’s career as well as her and Piers Morgan’s relationship over the years.
Who is Celia Walden?
As reported by The Sun, Celia Walden was born in Paris, France but was raised in London. Celia’s father is George Walden, a former Conservative Member of Parliament. Celia started her career as a journalist writing for the Daily Mail. She then became the last editor of the now defunct Daily Telegraph's diary section Spy.
Before dating Piers Morgan, Celia Walden dated French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli shortly after interviewing him in 2006 for The Telegraph, it is unclear how long the pair dated.
In 2008, Celia published her first novel, Harm’s Way, then in 2011, she published her memoirBabysitting George, which received criticism after she talked about her ‘rapport’ with George Best.
Celia Walden has also written feature articles for Glamour magazine, GQ and The Spectator, as per The Sun.
How long have Celia Walden and Piers Morgan been a couple?
Celia Walden, 45, started dating Piers Morgan, 56, in 2006 while Piers was still married to his first wife, Marion Shalloe, with whom he shares three sons.
According to Daily Star, Piers Morgan revealed in an interview with Amanda Holden that he had met Celia in ‘some fancy hotel in Mayfair’ while he gave a speech:
I was doing a speech in front of 1,000 people – magazine editors – in some fancy hotel in Mayfair and I absolutely died on my backside to the extent that they were openly jeering me, and the only person that was laughing was Celia, who I’d never met, and I went 'who’s that?
Piers and Celia tied the knot in 2010 in Swinbrook, Oxfordshire. Even though both Morgan and Walden know many A-list celebrities, many were left off the guest list for their wedding, including Simon Cowell, despite it being around the time Morgan was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, as per The Sun.
In 2011, Celia and Piers welcomed their first child together - Piers Morgan’s fourth child - Elise. Speaking about her daughter, Celia Walden revealed that Elise has Piers ‘wrapped around her little finger’.
As per Daily Star, she said:
Elise definitely puts him in his place!
Celia Walden ‘wears the trousers’ in the relationship
Celia Walden has previously been very open about her relationship with Piers Morgan. In 2018, when asked on Good Morning Britain if she was the one who wore the trousers, Celia responded:
Uhh yes, I think so!
I think women are always quietly in charge, I just think it’s best to let the men think that they are.
Celia also revealed what it’s like being married to Piers and that it is ‘basically one very long eye roll’. However, she added that after Piers left Good Morning Britain, she missed him being at work as he ‘exhausted himself’.
He’s usually very quiet at home because he’s exhausted himself on whatever interview he’s been doing.
This is the only reason I am sad about him leaving GMB — well, that and the fact I wake up and there he is, staring back at me morning after morning.
