Drake and Rihanna - The origins
The first time these talented singers sparked romance rumors was way back in 2009. The two were allegedly spotted on a date in a bowling alley and even shared an intimate kiss there. This was soon after Rihanna’s relationship with Chris Brown. But as per Billboard, the Umbrella singer maintained the status of ‘just friends’ with Drake. And, she denied the prospect of a romance even being present in the equation.
The alleged relationship
Ever since the two hit it off, it has been a rollercoaster of a relationship that has been on and off. There have been times that Drake allegedly claimed that Rihanna was using him, and times when he was full of adoration for her.
After the duo released What’s my name, rumors of their supposed relationship sparked again. Soon after that, the two of them were spotted together in many settings. Be it performing together at the 2011 Grammys, or cozying up to each other at a nightclub.
Over the next few years, they collaborated on hit songs such as Take Care, Work, and Too Good. Rihanna even joined the Hotline Bling singer for of his European tour. While Drake on the other hand publicly called Rihanna his ‘ultimate fantasy’. But through all this, they maintained that they are 'just friends', much to their fans' disappointment.
The undeniable chemistry
As per People, they had undeniable chemistry in live performances, and Drake even professed his love for Rihanna at the 2016 VMAs. From cute social media posts and matching tattoos to dedicating a whole billboard congratulating Rihanna, Drake always gave fans hints about their relationship.
This on-and-off romance went on until 2018, when Rihanna announced that she and Drake are no longer speaking to each other.
