Forever Young singer Rod Stewart has plans of staying forever young for real. The 79-year-old British Rock ‘n’ Roll singer will be celebrating his 80th birthday in January 2025. Plans for his birthday, which is in 5 months, is already underway as his wife is planning a 'surprise' party for him. However, him entering his 80s has not changed his will to stay forever young in his heart and live his life to the fullest.

As Stewart wraps his 13-year residency in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace in August, he has no intentions of toning down his rock ‘n’ roll ways. In a recent interview with The Sun, he shared that he could easily come back to Vegas if he wanted to but he may have other plans.
Rod Stewart shares he may have only 15 years left now
The Maggie May singer revealed in the interview that he has plans to party his way in his 90s. Like many older actors, including Miriam Margolyes who recently talked about her looming death, Steward has also opened up about death. Stewart shared that he isn’t afraid of dying and will enjoy himself as much as he can before he kicks the bucket. He said:
I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.
I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.
Stewart went on to explain that despite being 79, he still drinks like a rockstar after each show and makes his dancers and musicians drink too. However, it isn’t like it was in the ‘70s and ‘80s when he could pull all-nighters due to his health. He said:
I am more aware of my health now than before. You should be when you start getting on a bit. It’s very important.
This comes after a close family friend of Stewart revealed in 2023 that many of his eight children want him to retire and focus on his role as a father and grandfather, reports Page Six. Reportedly, his kids are ‘worried about him’ and want him to ‘throw a towel on his music and retire on his own terms.’
Rod Stewart’s health struggles
Indeed, they may have every right to worry and Rod Stewart's health has been an issue several times.
Stewart has survived two cancer diagnoses in his life - one of which nearly ended his career. In his autobiography, Rod talked about how the year 2000 almost changed his life and he thought of becoming a landscape gardener.
During one of his routine check-ups in Los Angeles, Stewart found that there was something on his thyroid gland. On further analysis it was revealed that the ‘something’ on his thyroid gland was a malignant growth: cancer, reports MailOnline. The rockstar went in for surgery under the alias Billy Potts (the names of his two dogs) and had a successful operation. However, the aftermath saw him almost losing his voice.
The surgeon told him he could get back to singing in three months, but it took him more than six months and a very strong will to get his voice back. During this period, Stewart revealed he was so scared that he thought of an alternate career option in case he wasn’t able to sing again.
The rock ‘n’ roll king then revealed in 2019 that he secretly fought prostate cancer for two years and was given an ‘all-clear’ that same year. Performing at a fundraising event for the Prostate Project charity, Stewart shared at that time:
Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I’m in the clear now, simply because I caught it early … I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me.
