Source reveals why the couple broke up
As a source recently told the Sun, things turned sour for the celebrity couple in April 2024. Ruth Langsford is said to have walked in on her husband talking lovingly to another woman on the phone. She allegedly confronted him, and the news left her feeling devastated. The source explains:
Eamonn thought he was in the house alone while he was chatting on the phone. But Ruth could hear him from elsewhere in the house and was totally horrified. She confronted Eamonn. It was quite a shock — for both of them.
A few weeks later, Ruth Langsford reportedly found messages with a woman on her husband's laptop.
This latest discovery is said to have been the trigger for Ruth Langsford to finally file for divorce, but it left her feeling heartbroken. Since the couple announced their divorce in 2024, Eamonn Holmes made his relationship public with Katie Alexander, a 43-year-old relationship counsellor, who is 22 years younger than him.

Despite a very painful and public breakup, Ruth Langsford now seems to be enjoying her single life to the fullest. She celebrated her 65th birthday on 17 March 2025, along with some friends in the Caribbean. Ruth Langsford's birthday is believed to be a milestone for her, as the year during which she will put herself first.
Friends of the presenter opened up to the Daily Mail about her feelings toward her ex-husband, and how the relationship ended, explaining:
She is living life to the full, 65 is going to be her number and she's living it large.
She wants to let her hair down. This is the new Ruth that wanted to come out but was stifled by Eamonn and this is her free.
During an interview with Woman & Home, Ruth Langsford opened up about her breakup and about how she is feeling now, saying:
I'm alright. Relationship breakdowns are very difficult – marriage, friendship, whatever it is – but you just deal with it and you have to move on. You can either let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It's a choice.
