Shakira’s mum was hospitalised
According to The Sun, Nidia started feeling unwell last week and sought medical attention immediately. However, she wasn’t hospitalised until the discovery of the blood clot in her leg on Friday. This comes after just months ago Shakira had to take her father William Mebarak Chadid to the hospital as he suffered a bad fall and required treatment.
Nidia allegedly suffered from a stroke initially, however, sources close to the singer claimed that her problems are related to deep vein thrombosis and have not affected her brain yet. Spanish media confirmed that the 46-year-old singer’s mother is now ‘out of danger’ and currently recovering at home with regular medical assistance and check-ups.

What is deep vein thrombosis?
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious health condition under which a blood clot is formed in a deep vein of your body - usually the legs. Healthline states that most people do not find out about DVT until they undergo emergency treatment for a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in the lung.
Shakira hasn’t made any official comments regarding her mother’s hospitalisation or health, as such, it is difficult to understand what caused the problem. Meanwhile, her father William is still recovering from his fall last year after his declining health was linked to Shakira’s decision to delay her big move to Miami with her sons. Her mother’s health may further impact her move.
