Her cancer came back
In August 2015, Doherty revealed that she had been diagnosed quite late, before her cancer then spread a few months later. After making her illness public with the hopes of relaxing other patients, she announced in February 2017 that she had finished herchemotherapy. Unfortunately, it was with immense sadness that she announced three years later that the cancer she thought she had beaten was back and this time, the situation was even worse since she was already in stage IV. Of course, her fans were very concerned and flooded her with messages of support and encouragement. However, this did not make the 49-year-old actress happy.
Shannen Doherty wants people to stop praying for her
In an interview with her friend Sarah Michelle Gellar on Entertainment Tonight, Shannen Doherty said she was extremely grateful to the people who were supporting her in her fight. But while it may surprise some people to hear, the actress believes that she doesn't deserve all the attention she has been receiving.
The legendary star who played Brenda Walsh said:
I love it when people say, 'we're praying for you,' and everything else, but there comes a point when you're like, 'I got this. I'm fine. I'm good,.
There are a lot of people in the world who could use prayers, and I'm feeling great. I have an amazing medical team behind me.
From this interview, Shannen Doherty also hopes to change the image that public opinion has of people with stage IV cancer. She is far from a vegetative state as some people assume and assures us that she is doing very well at the moment. We imagine this positive state of mind can only give her more strength in her fight with this disease.
