One such memorable controversy included the Spice Girls and none other than the current King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms, King Charles III. Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice took her cheekiness to a whole new level when she met King Charles in the 90s. The singer who always pushed all boundaries allegedly broke ‘royal protocol’ when she met the then-heir to the throne. Here’s what happened.
Geri Halliwell’s royal blunder
As the world already knows, Geri is a bold, confident woman and it looks like she has always been this way. In an encounter with King Charles, she let that side of her loose, resulting in a major breach of Royal protocol. The event that took place at a Charity Gala in May 1997, went down in history for stirring scandal. And Geri made a Royal blunder when she got physically a bit too close to Charles.
Geri’s inappropriate encounter
As per Daily Star, both Geri and Mel B kissed the then-Prince on his cheek, which is unheard of in Royal encounters. But Geri took things up a couple of notches and went on to touch the Prince’s behind. This move was considered a seriously scandalous one, as she patted the Royal rear end of the then-heir to the United Kingdom.
Many publications went on to say that Geri pinched the King’s behind. Geri later clarified this by saying that there was no pinching, although she did pat his bum. Not just that, as per The Mirror UK, Geri even told the then-Prince that he was ‘very sexy’, and followed that statement with a big smooch on his cheek.
