Among all the speculations for the new season, news has come out about last season’s lead. Lee Jung-jae plays one of the most crucial characters, Seong Gi-hun, on Squid Game. The Emmy-winning actor is, without a doubt, one of the most successful actors in South Korea. Just like his success, his charges per episode have also skyrocketed. Here’s how Lee Jung-jae is charging for the upcoming season.
Lee Jung-jae’s rate per episode
As per NextShark, the Golden Globe nominee is to earn $700,000 per episode of Squid Game. This sum amounts to nearly one billion Korean won per episode. Given that the first season had nine episodes, the star could make $6.3 million for the season if following the same format.
According to AllKPop, the filming for season two is set to begin next year as of 2023. And Lee Jung-jae has officially signed the contract for the project with a guaranteed payment of one billion KRW per episode. The budgets of the show have been upped since season one as director Hawng Dong Hyuk is said to have gotten an enormous sum of money in the form of incentive pay for season two.

As per reports by Today Online, the Squid Game star was reportedly paid $3.1 million for season one. His charges have more than doubled in the last year since season one came out.
