Strictly Come Dancing’s Ellie Simmonds warns the new cast ahead of this year’s series

BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing is weeks away from airing and will return to our TV screens in September. As the show bosses have finalised the celebs for this year, last year’s celebs are feeling a bit ‘old’ - especially Ellie Simmonds.

Speaking to The Sun, Ellie revealed how she feels about the new show and tips she’d like to give the celebs this year.

Strictly’s Ellie Simmonds warns the cast this year

The Paralympic swimmer made history on the show last year and since then has been working with SHEBA Hope Grows on the world’s largest coral reef restoration programme. As the new series of Strictly kicks off, Ellie opens up about how she feels. She said:

It's so sad it's all over for us. Especially seeing the new cast be announced and the new season kicking off.

She joked:

It's like, we're finished. We're last year's news.

She added the experience ‘just flies and goes so quickly’ before urging the cast to ‘soak every day in.’ Ellie said: I would say to everyone, just soak every day in. Enjoy every second because you don't know when it's going to be your last.

Days fly by and it's over before you know it.

On being asked if she has any tips for the new cast, she revealed:

I would say my top tips are to use blister plasters a lot.

Try to wear your shoes in, even when you're not actually dancing. That's what sore.

Really look after yourself. Keep hydrated and take snacks on training days because they're really long. And drinks lots of coffee. Me and Nikita lived off of double expressos.

Hoping that Nikita wins, she said:

I'm actually so excited for this year. I'm really hoping Nikita wins.
