The story was reported by several media outlets including Huff Post. In their article they tell the story of how one day, out of the blue, Donald Trump decided to call actress Brooke Shields.
In an interview the actress did withThe New York Times, she says:
was making some movie in the late ’90s. My phone rang, and it was him
According to the actress, Donald Trump then proceeded to say, in the most Donald Trump fashion:
You and I should date.
You’re America’s sweetheart, and I’m the world’s richest man.
People will love it.
Straight to the point and confident in what he wants. Donald Trump could almost be an inspiration.

Donald Trump didn't like being rejected
Unfortunately for Donald Trump, the actress declined the offer. In her interview she explained that she thought the situation was comical but that she quickly gathered herself to turn Trump down.
She reportedly said:
Thank you, I’m very flattered, but I have a boyfriend, and I don’t think he would appreciate me stepping out on him.
Though the remark was tactful, Donald Trump didn't like it. We do understand that rejection does hurt but what he said wasn't the most pleasant.
According to Brooke Shields, the future President told her:
Well, I think you’re making a big mistake.
The story of this phone call just keeps on getting juicier as, allegedly, Shields had the last word and told Trump:
Well, I’m going to have to take my chances
So it turns out we can get inspiration from both of them in this situation!
