Bid adieu
In a surprising Instagram post, Laura revealed that she'll no longer be hosting the ITV2 dating reality show. She wrote on her Instagram:
Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island.
According to The Guardian, Laura found some of the aspects of the show ‘difficult’ and had to let it go.
There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed - some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.
I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into three series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.
Although Laura hinted that the viewers will be in safe hands, ITV hasn’t announced the new host yet. Previously, Love Island fans wanted winner Ekin-Su to host the show instead of Laura Whitmore.
Grateful for her
While Laura got emotional as she bid her goodbye to the show, ITV and fellow Love Island stars were equally emotional to let her go. In a statement, ITV said:
Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show.
We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.
Fellow Islanders rushed to wish her well as she announced her departure from the show. Maura Higgins wrote:
You will be missed.
Demi Jones commented:
You were incredible! We’ll miss you.
Series 6 Shaughna Phillips remarked:
You absolutely did! Going to miss you!
