Mackenzie and Connor split
The couple revealed in a lengthy joint statement on Mackenzie’s Instagram story that the physical distance between them had taken its toll on their relationship. Mackenzie is currently based in Tucson, Arizona whilst Connor recently started work as an auditor in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the other side of the US.
They wrote:
Over the last couple of weeks, we have started having some difficult conversations about our future. Ultimately we both realized that our lives are moving in different directions. This was not a decision we took lightly. We both have so much love for each other and had hopes that we could make this work, but relationships are all about timing, and this is just not our time.
However, the statement also seemed to hint that a reunion could be on the cards if circumstances change one day. The statement continued:
We are unsure of what the future holds for us, but one thing is certain, we will always have each other. And we will forever be grateful that Love Island brought us together.
Love Island US splits
Despite a rocky start to their relationship, Mackenzie and Connor were the last couple standing from Love Island US 2020. The show’s winning couple, Caleb Corprew and Justine Ndiba, split in late 2020, whilst runners-up Cely Vasquez and Johnny Middlebrooks officially called time on their relationship in January.
