The interpreter of the famous song I left my heart in San Francisco, died in his native New York City, two weeks before his birthday. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2016, he had continued to perform and record until 2021. He was considered one of the finest performers of the 50s and early 60s. Tony Bennett saw his career take off again in the 90s, under the direction of his son Danny.
A few years later, the artist had the opportunity to perform a memorable duet on Body and Soul with Amy Winehouse, released a full duet album with Diana Krall and a few songs with Lady Gaga. His last public appearance was with the famous singer, at Radio City Music Hall, in August 2021.
