Posh Spice’s posh choice
Victoria and the girls got together and formed a girl band in 1994. The Wannabe singers achieved great heights, but Victoria was initially convinced that she had blown out her audition. According to Metro.co.uk, Victoria’s choice of song could’ve gone either way but luckily it all worked out for her.
Speaking about her song choice for the tryout of the iconic girl band, Victoria said:
Everybody was singing Madonna or pop songs. I came from a musical theatre background and stood up and sang a song from Cabaret.
I sang Mein Herr, so while everybody else was singing Madonna, I was singing Mein Herr. It was so theatrical and so wrong for what it was.
She added:
It obviously got their attention because they saw something in me; God knows what it was.
Victoria and misfits
The 48-year-old – who believes that she’s not very talented but her hard work pays off – finds it hard to believe why she was chosen as a Spice Girl. She confessed:
I look back at those early videos and I'm like, wow, what did they see because I was pretty average.
She explained how each girl in the band had a different personality individually but all these ‘misfits’ were exceptionally brilliant together.
We just worked together individually, we may have been a bit misfitty but together we work well.
She added:
Even though we were put together, nobody put those characters on us so I always looked that way.
I was the one that was always in the little black dress and the brown bob. Emma, when I first met her she had little blonde pigtails and a little white dress on, so we were all the characters.
