Warwick Davis is best known for his role in the Harry Potter franchise as Professor Filius Flitwick. Through his line of work, Davis met his wife, Samantha. As per Daily Mail, they met in 1988 on the set of Willow.
Three years later, the couple tied the knot and welcomed three children. Sadly, their son Lloyd died just 9 days after he was born. Against all odds that usually come with showbiz, Warwick and Samantha were together ‘till death do us part’.
Sadly, in March 2024, Samantha passed away at the age of 53, after 33 years of marriage. 8 months after her tragic passing, it has been revealed the amount of money she has left her family.
Samantha leaves Warwick over £500,000
In documents obtained by The Sun, it was revealed that Warwick was the sole trustee in his wife’s will. As per the tabloid, her estate was worth £536,830 when she died. The documents also showed that Samantha’s final will was signed in 1998 and was never altered.
Warwick announced his wife’s passing in April 2024, a month after it happened. Naturally, he and their two children paid loving tributes. Warwick had called Samantha his ‘soul mate’ and his ‘most trusted confident’. Their children express immense gratitude toward their mother and how ‘honoured’ they were ‘to have received a love like hers’.
Samantha’s cause of death has not yet been revealed to the public, but the late actress did have a brush with death in 2019.
Samantha Davis’ brush with death in 2019
As reported by Daily Mail, Samantha Davis had a brush with death in 2019 after falling ill with sepsis. The family of four were planning a holiday when, at first, Samantha had thought her symptoms were stress related to planning the trip.
However, when the late actress was unable to support herself without aid due to exhaustion, Warwick phoned an out-of-hours doctor and she was rushed to hospital. In 2022, Warwick opened up about the ordeal.
He revealed that the family had said goodbye ‘in case Sam didn't survive’ but were still somewhat optimistic. In the end, Samantha pulled through.
As per Daily Mail, he said:
The next few hours were the longest of my life as I waited on the ward with our children in the empty space left by Sam's hospital bed. I hoped it would not symbolise a future for us without her.
Our family gathered by her bedside; although optimistic, we were sort of saying goodbye in case Sam didn't survive.
Samantha and Warwick’s life behind the camera
Samantha and Warwick Davis haven’t had the easiest life. As a child, Samantha was diagnosed with achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that causes dwarfism. Warwick has a similar condition called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED), which means that he didn’t grow past 3 foot 6, as per Daily Mail.
The couple also suffered child loss. As mentioned above, the couple said goodbye to their son Lloyd in 1991, just 9 days after he was born. According to The Sun, he had inherited dwarfism from both his parents, which caused complications.
The couple also went through three miscarriages, one in 1993. They named the baby George. Samantha and Warwick have two children who survived childhood. Annabelle - who followed in her parents’ footsteps and became an actress - and Harrison. Both children have the same condition as their father.
