Back in 2021, fans all over the world were elated when American pop star Britney Spears was freed of her conservatorship that had her father Jamie Spears taking all her personal, professional and financial decisions for her. And that included her long creative nemesis Christina Aguilera.

The singers started their respective careers together back in 1993 as little girls of 11 and 12 years of age. The duo, who used to be friends at some point, launched their showbiz journeys with Disney's The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. This show was also the launchpad for Hollywood A-Listers such as Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, among others.
So, what really happened in last three decades that the once-close co-stars and friends? This one incident, amongst many others, could be a major trigger for Britney.
The feud: Now
Britney Spears has recently posted about Christina Aguilera’s backup dancers and allegedly 'fat-shamed' her and the ones she works with on stage.
In her now-viral post, Spears has taken a subtle dig at her arch-rival, saying in part:
‘I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children … my dancers’
Before adding how Aguilera would look small in front of her backup dancers, with a quote from comedian Rodney Dangerfield that goes as this, ‘I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.’
Before adding more to her caption section, where she talks about ‘things people NEVER talked about 🙄🙄🙄 !!!’
Christina has since unfollowed the pop star on Instagram, according toIndependent.
In this post, Britney has seemingly fat-shamed her music rival of almost 30 years. But this is not the first time these two legends have locked horns in public.
‘Britney acts like trailer trash’
In a news report by US Weekly, after several attacks on one another through the media, Christina Aguilera criticized and made fun of Britney Spears’ engagement to now-ex-husband Kevin Federline, especially the ring that she was flaunting back in 2004.
‘It looks like she got it at QVC. I know Britney. She's not trailer trash, but she sure acts that way.’
Christina Aguilera had said about Britney’s engagement to, ironically, her backup dancer.
But, after a four-year delay, Aguilera did apologize for her harsh choice of words in an interview with Daily Mail in 2008, calling it ‘a funny time’ for her.
‘When we both started releasing records, it was a funny time for me… It must have seemed as if we were competing with each other, but, in reality, Britney is someone that I used to hold hands with. We were silly little girls together on the Mickey Mouse Club. What a journey it has been for both of us!’
