Emmy Award winning actress Anne Heche is reportedly not expected to survive her recent car crash. The Guardian is reporting the actress is allegedly brain dead and surrounded by close family and friends.

The crash happened in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles on August 5th and police are currently investigating whether or not Anne was driving under the influence at the time of her crash.
Who is Anne Heche?
Anne Heche, born in 1969 rose to fame in the late 1980s for her work in soap opera Another World in which she earned a Daytime Emmy award. The actress went on to gain notoriety for her roles in movies such as Donnie Brasco, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and most recently, Dancing with the Stars.
Beyond her long acting resume, the actress is known for her relationship with comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Their three-year relationship ended in 2000 and the two were considering a civil partnership in the state of Vermont before separating. Heche went on to marry James Tupper and the two had two children together.
Her troubled past
As detailed in her 2001 memoir Call Me Crazy, the actress addressed her strained relationship with her family. Anne alleged that her father sexually abused her at a young age which may have caused the estrangement between her and her four siblings. Heche’s mother and sister Abigail spoke out against the allegations which Anne continued to assert.
Beyond her family drama, Anne Heche allegedly suffered from a mental health crisis in 2001 after her split with Ellen DeGeneres. Onlookers reported to ABC News that the actress was under the influence of drugs whilst telling strangers she was ‘the sister of God’.
Anne was sent to the psychiatric ward and released soon after.
Ongoing battle
Anne spoke openly about her ongoing battle with her mental health. In her 2001 interview with Barbara Walters, as reported by ABC News, she opened up about her other personalities and how she used them as an escape.
While this interview was shocking for its time, Anne has since kept a lower profile while dealing with her relationship with drugs, alcohol and its effect on her mental health and complicated family ties.
What’s next?
According to NBC News, A spokesperson from her family has stated that she is suffering from an 'anoxic' brain injury and they are currently determining whether or not her organs will be viable for donation.
