Georgina Chapman may be known for her stunning fashion empire, but more recently she’s been making headlines for a different reason—her relationship with Adrien Brody.

Adrien Brody had the world’s attention at the 2025 Academy Awards. The celebrated actor, known for his intense performances, took home the Best Actor award for his role in The Brutalist. But before he could even reach the stage, he did something that left audiences stunned—he tossed his chewing gum at his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman.

According to People, Brody forgot to get rid of his gum before stepping up to accept his award. As he made his way to the stage, he hesitated for a second before spitting out his gum from his mouth into his hand, and tossing it towards Chapman, who instinctively reached out and caught it in a move that could rival a seasoned sports player.

As the room settled after Brody and Chapman’s bizarre moment, Brody delivered a powerful speech, thanking his peers, the industry, and of course, Georgina Chapman and her children.

Overwhelmed by winning his second Oscar, Brody’s acceptance speech took a personal turn when he acknowledged Chapman’s two children, India and Dashiell. The teens, whom she shares with her ex-husband Harvey Weinstein, have reportedly grown close to Brody over the years.

He gushed in his speech:

I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value and my values.

And our beautiful children, Dash and India. I know this is — it's been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life.

And popsie is coming home a winner.

The term ‘popsie’ signals that India and Dashiell have wholeheartedly accepted Brody as a father-figure in their life.

It wasn’t the first time Brody had publicly praised Chapman. During the Golden Globes earlier this year, he dedicated part of his speech to her and said:

To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina, your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be.

I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you.

Who is Georgina Chapman?

While she may be making headlines for being Brody’s arm candy, Chapman is more than just that. She’s a renowned British fashion designer and co-founder of Marchesa, a luxury label known for its elegant, red-carpet-ready gowns.

Born in London in 1976, Chapman studied at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. According to Grazia, she met her business partner, Keren Craig, in college. The two shared a passion for fashion and creativity, which led them to launch Marchesa in 2004.

The 48-year-old was a regular judge on Project Runway: All Starsfor seven seasons.

Georgina’s relationship with Harvey Weinstein

Before dating Brody, Chapman was married to disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein from 2007-2021. The two separated in 2017. During their 14-year marriage, Chapman and Weinstein had two children together—India and Dashiell.

Her life was thrust into the spotlight for unfortunate reasons in 2017 when allegations against Weinstein came to light.

The scandal was a pivotal moment in Hollywood, igniting the #MeToo movement and exposing the widespread issue of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry. As more than 80 women came forward with allegations against Weinstein, Chapman found herself caught in the media frenzy.

In light of the scandal, she decided to leave Weinstein. In 2018, she shared that she ‘thought she was in a happy marriage’ but she was ‘terribly naive’ to think so. She said:

My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.

Their divorce was finalised in 2021.

In a candid Vogue interview, she admitted feeling ‘humiliated and so broken’ and confessed

I somehow felt that I didn’t deserve it. And then I realised, This has happened. I have to own it. I have to move forward.

Adding:

I don’t want to be viewed as a victim, because I don’t think I am. I am a woman in a shit situation, but it’s not unique.

Her romance with Adrien Brody

Soon after her separation from Weinstein, Chapman found love in Brody. The two first met in 2019 while on a trip with mutual friends. Sparks flew, and by early 2020, the two had confirmed their relationship.

Town and Country Magazine reported that their connection was instant, with Chapman recalling how they even wore matching outfits at their first-ever birthday celebration together. Chapman recalled:

So the first evening we had a joint birthday party…

Blowing out candles together, and weirdly we even had almost matching outfits, we were wearing the same print.

Chapman and Brody’s first public appearance as a couple came in 2021 at the Tribeca Film Festival, and they’ve been inseparable since.
