Granted, actors are humans and are prone to making mistakes, too. But how much is too much?

It is 2022, and such a shame that Sam Elliot is still referring to Jane Campion’s Oscar-winning The Power of the Dog a ‘piece of s**t’ for her supposedly tainted version of the American West.

'What the f**k does this woman from down there know about the American West?' he said, according to a report by The Guardian.

If that has taken you by surprise, wait till the end of the article to discover the shocking behavior our much-loved celebrities in 2022.

The train wreck that is Ezra Miller

In 2022 alone, the The Flash actor has courted numerous controversies, some resulting in restraining orders, assault & disorderly conduct charges. But, two of their most damaging scandals involve threatening the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and grooming minors, as reported by the Vanity fair.

In a now-deleted video, Miller, in January, delivered a cryptic message to KKK asking them to ‘kill themselves’ or ‘we will do it for you’, as stated by The Independent. In the caption section, they said that they would like to ‘save some lives’. Crazy much?

The most shocking of it all, however, is the accusation of grooming the then 12-year-old Tokata Iron Eyes, who uses she/they pronouns and goes by Gibson, after the two met at Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota in 2016. In a court document, Tokata’s parents have accused Miller of exhibiting ‘cult-like and psychologically manipulative, controlling behaviour’. In June, another parent came forward stating that they had sought and were granted a temporary harassment prevention order against the actor for behaving ‘inappropriately toward’ their 12-year-old, stated a Fox News report.

Will Smith and that slap

Surely, it was one of the most beautiful nights of his life but Oscar winner Will Smith—who had just won an award that same night for his role in King Richardas tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams—decided to slap host Chris Rock instead.

As seen by the whole world, after Rock joked about Jada Pinkett-Smith being bald owing to her diagnosis of alopecia, a visibly upset Smith got on stage and ‘smacked’ the living daylights out of him. ‘Keep my wife’s name out your f**king mouth,’ Will Smith told Chris Rock during the live broadcast.

Soon after, Smith reached out to Rock and has apologized to him, according to a report by the BBC, but the two are far from being friends. The Academy, too, has banned the Hollywood star for 10 years because of his unacceptable behaviour.

In April of this year, Smith was spotted in India’s financial capital Mumbai along with a pandit (Hindu priest) and was in the country for healing through Yoga and meditation, according to a report by Fox News.

Sam Elliott, the Western expert-turned-abuser

It was rather disappointing to see a veteran actor like Sam Elliot to question three-time Oscar-nominated director Jane Campion’s understanding of the American West, as portrayed by her in her Oscar-nominated film The Power of the Dog.

In an interview with Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, as reported by Advocate, Elliot called her work ‘a piece of s**t’ and said hateful things about her for inserting ‘allusions of homosexuality throughout the movie’.

As Campion is from New Zealand, Elliot said that she had no idea how the Westerners function. ‘Well, what the f**k does this woman from down there?’ and further criticized her for shooting the movie in her home country and calling it Montana.

Campion got back at him by calling him a ‘little b**ch’ and called his remarks ‘sexist’, claimed a report by The Wrap.

So, what do you think? Was it okay for these incredibly talented individuals to do what they have done? Or, do you think they are being treated unfairly for being in the public eye? Do share.
