New locations
Penn Badgley was recently spotted on-set filming the current season which is in production in London.
Because You season 3 ended with the cliffhanger of Joe (Penn Badgley) killing his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) fans are eager to know what happens next specifically with his infant son, Henry. In the final scenes we see protagonist Joe with a Parisian background presumably as he follows his then love-interest Marianne (Tati Gabrielle) with baby Henry left behind.
More risky for Joe
Viewers may be surprised to know that the bulk of You season 4 takes place not in Paris, but in London. More specifically, the cast has been seen filming near Royal Holloway, University of London, as reported by The Tab.
The international backgrounds serve to shake Joe up and keep him on his toes according to E News. The writers asked:
What's a completely different kind of environment to put him in? And then also, what haven't we done that could potentially get him into lots of trouble?
So far we know that Joe has a new love interest in co-star Charlotte Ritchie all while still being somewhat attached to his last season siren Marianne.
Penn's directing debut
Besides the international location, the formatting may change this season. According to E News, the new formatting will feel like ‘we're shifting the genre slightly’. Perhaps this new formatting can be attributed to Penn who is seen directing an episode. The actor has spoken out about the fans' obsession with his character Joe and how toxic the character is.
This may come as a surprise to fans but it clearly is a recent development since the show has been filming since they first teased in November 2021 and the directing photo is fairly recent.
Fans will be in for plenty of twists and turns in the new season both stylistically and plot-wise. The official release date for You season 4 has not yet been released.
