Hugh Grant no longer talks to this Bridget Jones actress, here's why

The Bridget Jones movies are a popular pick for easy-watch romantic comedies. With three movies in the franchise, the actors have somewhat gotten closer during the course of the movies. But this isn’t the case with everyone.

The rift between Sally Phillips and Hugh Grant has made headlines. The two actors worked together in two Bridget Jones movies. Phillips plays the role of Shazza, Bridget’s friend, and Grant plays Daniel Cleaver.

Phillips recently came out and said that things aren’t great with her and Grant. And that Grant doesn’t speak to her anymore. Here is why.

Why doesn’t Hugh Grant talk to Sally Phillips anymore?

Phillips claims that Grant doesn’t speak to her anymore because of an incident that took place while filming Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Phillips got very drunk during filming while shooting scenes in Thailand, as per The Independent. Due to a series of events that followed Phillips' inebriation, Grant decided to stay away from her.

What exactly happened in Thailand?

After getting drunk, Phillips says she became very indiscreet. And apparently Grant became afraid of her ‘giant mouth’. After having lost her flip-flops in the sea and being sick in the Guitar bar’s sand toilet, Grant seemed to have been put off. And following this incident in Thailand, he is said to have completely distanced himself from his co-actor. The actor even rejected the next Bridget Jones movie, although we don’t know the exact reason for his rejection.

Where do they stand now?

Phillips maintains that Grant doesn’t talk to or interact with her personally. He only talks to her on set, in a professional setting, which she says is fair enough. Grant is said to have a solid and continuing friendship with co-star Renee Zellweger as per an article published by The Independent in 2020.
