Justin Bieber: Fans shocked after figuring out connection between song 'Ghost' and Selena Gomez

As we all know, Justin Bieber’s on-and-off relationship with Selena Gomez was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, which went on for approximately 8 years. Some die-hard fans have never really recovered from their breakup in March 2018, which was soon followed by Bieber marrying Hailey Baldwin in September 2018.

Never-ending drama

Although the couple broke up 5 years ago, some fans believe they are still writing songs about each other and their previous relationship. In fact, TikTok is filled with videos wherein fans have compiled the songs they believe Selena and Justin have written for each other.

Sorry? It’s about Selena. Lose You to Love Me? It’s about Justin. It seems as though the pair has been playing a game of endless back-and-forth for years, and they gave us some great tunes in the meantime.

To top things off, every few months a new feud appears between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber, as far as the fans are concerned. The latest supposed feud resulted in fans insulting Hailey Bieber during a surprise performance from her husband.

The pair keeps writing songs about each other

The Jelena drama has reached TikTok as millions of fans watch and make videos 'explaining' how the former couple still communicates with each other. We have gathered some examples of TikTok videos from these fans/detectives.

In one of her songs, Look at Her Now Selena sings:

Of course she was sad / But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet / Took a few years to soak up the tears/ But look at her now, watch her go.

Fans immediately saw a connection with Bieber and interpreted that Selena ‘dodged a bullet’ by breaking up with the singer.

In another song entitled Lose You to Love Me, Gomez wrote a direct message to the Baby singer:

In two months, you replaced us like it was easy. Made me think I deserved it in the thick of healing.

Still in the same song, she sings:

You promised the world and I fell for it / I put you first and you adored it / Set fires to my forest / And you let it burn / Sang off-key in my chorus / ‘Cause it wasn’t yours.

So fans obviously tried to find which song Selena Gomez references, and they just might have found it. In 2013, she recorded a demo with Bieber, entitled Can’t Steal Our Love, in which Bieber does not sing a chorus, but a bridge. And to say he sings off-key is right on the dot, as you can hear in the following video.

And then, there is the whole Ghost ordeal.

The Ghost of whom?

Both singers have written songs which included the phrase ‘Ghost of you’. This was enough to send fans into overdrive. In 2010, Selena sang:

But I don’t think I’ll ever break through/The ghost of you.

Then, in 2021, Justin released a song in his new album Justice, called, you guessed it, Ghost. In this song, he wrote:

I want you to know that if I can’t get close to you / I’ll settle for the ghost of you.

We will probably never know the true meaning of these songs, but isn't it what music is about? Songs can mean something very personal to listeners depending on their personal experience, and they perceive it in their own way.
