Invisible job
Despite spending less than 14 minutes on screen so far, Laura Whitmore is said to have made more than half a million pounds for her part on Love Island this season. The Sun has reported that so far, footage of 27 hours – roughly 1610 minutes has been broadcast from the villa. Whereas Laura has only appeared for 13 minutes 26 seconds and has hosted three episodes of the spin-off Love Island: Aftersun.
Laura is believed to earn a whooping £600,000 to present the show and considering her screen time since the start of the show, she has been paid some £744 a second for hosting the shop. Her lack of screen time hasn’t gone unnoticed by the fans and some of them took to Twitter to express:
I’d love to have Laura Whitmore’s job. We haven’t seen her since episode one.
Where is Laura? All of this texting looks stupid.
More of Laura
While fans are demanding more of Laura on-screen, Love Island has confirmed that the host of the show ‘has never appeared in every episode,’ according to the Mirror. The show bosses have also confirmed that Laura’s next visit will be a surprise. They said:
As regular viewers of Love Island will know, the host has never appeared in every episode of the series. As always, Laura’s next arrival will be a surprise to the Islanders and viewers alike
Laura had previously cleared the air about her travelling back and forth to the villa and confirmed:
The villa is Mallorca and Aftersun is London. This is the situation for any host, always has been. I have it in my contract to offset carbon emissions.
