He called her six months later, and the rest is history. The couple, who have an age gap of 26 years, married in June 2007 and have two sons together, Alastair and Aiden. Despite being happy in their marriage, recent rumours suggested that the couple were at a ‘stalemate.’

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster: Rumours about their marriage

Rumours surrounding the marriage of Rod and Penny sparked significant media attention when the Daily Mail suggested that the couple was having a difficult time in their marriage. Rod, 79, had a 13-year Las Vegas residency that ended this year, but he extended it to 2025.

Reportedly, the couple were supposed to move back to Britain and sell their LA house after the end of his residency. Rumours suggested that Penny was not on board with his extension and staying in LA, while Rod refused to leave LA. An unnamed source told the publication:

Rod loves his life in LA and he flies back and forth to Vegas for his gigs. He gets to spend quality time with his grandchildren and hosts a banquet dinner almost every Sunday night at home for a crowd of his best friends.

As Rod extended his residency and took his LA house off the market, the source added:

Penny has no plans to return to LA, which she’s not a fan of, while Rod has no plans to move back right now. They’re at a stalemate and Penny is angry that Rod’s gone back on his word. It’s about saving their marriage right now.

Rod Stewart debunks rumours about difficulty in his marriage

In response to these allegations, Rod Stewart took to social media to clarify the situation. He emphatically stated that there is no rift between him and Penny and that they remain deeply in love after 27 years together, reports The Express.

He took to his Instagram and shared a statement that read:

We wanted to set the record straight. There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact, it's the opposite.

Stewart explained that while they had considered selling their LA property, they ultimately decided against it after spending a wonderful summer there with family and friends. He also highlighted that two of his children still live in the LA home, making it a place of continued importance to their family.

Stewart further emphasised that the couple are happily splitting their time between the UK and their other homes abroad, dismissing the rumours as entirely false. He continued:

Penny and I could not be more in love with each other after 27 glorious years. Please trust me on this... there's no disharmony in our marriage.

He signed off his statement by declaring himself ‘a very lucky man,’ reinforcing the strength of their relationship.
