Abuse case
The Sun confirms that Pere Daobry was convicted of attacking his ex-police sergeant partner Sarah Jay at Colchester Magistrates' Court in September 2016. According to reports, Daobry choked his wife before dialling 911.
But The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were accompanied by the former police officer and bodybuilder on September 5 as they travelled from Frogmore Cottage to Euston Station. A source told MailOnline:
When you consider how outspoken Meghan is on women's issues it's quite amazing that a bodyguard with that sort of background has been employed.
Despite being found guilty of assault, the hulking, 6ft 7in bodyguard escaped going to jail because he had the ‘decency’ to call an ambulance. However, he was given a restraining order for one year, with 200 hours of unpaid work along with £930 in compensation to Sarah Jay, and £620 in court costs.
Do the Sussexes know his history?
Although he was spotted with the couple, it is still unclear if the Sussexes know of his history. What’s more? It’s also not known yet if Pere Daobry was appointed by the couple themselves or if he was a part of an event-organised security team.
The source added:
His wife Sarah went through a really traumatic time with him and I'm sure if Meghan and Harry knew the full story they wouldn't be at all comfortable with him being employed as their bodyguard.
I really don't think Harry and Meghan would want someone like him guarding them.
