Prince George of Wales, second in line to the throne now and Princess Charlotte of Wales, third in line to the throne, attended their great-grandmother’s funeral yesterday. The youngest mourners at the service – nine and seven, respectively – wore clothes that signified more meanings than one.
Why did Prince George wear dark blue?
Many royal fans were left wondering over the choice of colour Prince George chose to wear at his gan-gan’s funeral, claims Hello Magazine. However, as per funeral etiquettes, black is not the only colour that goes with mourning.
The etiquettes confirm that wearing any dark colour, including navy blue, is considered a sign of respect for the deceased.
Now that it has been cleared that Prince George didn’t break any funeral etiquettes, the underlying meaning of his navy-blue suit cannot be ignored. People magazine claims that Prince George wore a navy-blue suit to match his father’s – Prince William of Wales – Royal Air Force (RAF) uniform.
Prince William, first in line to the throne, wore his military uniform including a Garter sash with RAF Pilot Wings and the Garter Star Chest Order.
Prince George also added a black tie to his navy-blue suit, just like his father who wore a black tie with his uniform as well. The father-son duo incorporated both colours in their clothing.
Future King in making
It’s a widely known fact that heirs to the throne are, from a young age, taught to blend in the society and Royal duties. While Prince George is ‘incredibly tidy’ and becoming more confident, he’s still a ‘fun-loving’ kid with the innocence of a child that his parents don’t want to take away from him yet.
Elle confirms that Prince George has a ‘mischievous side’ that his parents want to protect. A source confirmed:
He likes to play pranks on his parents and siblings and making everyone laugh.
Despite the responsibilities he’ll entail in his future role, Kate and William don’t want to see him grow up too quickly.
They’re determined to give him as much of a normal childhood as possible and it’s working wonders. He’s such a lovable, down-to-earth little boy.
