Princess Catherine appeared slightly uneasy before giving her St. Patrick's speech and took a deep breath to compose herself. During the speech, Prince William bestowed upon her the title of "Colonel Catherine" as he handed over his responsibilities with the regiment to his wife. With this formal appointment, the Princess of Wales assumed the role of Colonel of the regiment and currently serves as the head of the Welsh Guards. www.duchessonabudget.com #stpartricksday#catherineprincessofwales#royalnews#katemiddletonnews#katemiddleton#katemiddletonoutfits#princewilliamofwales#duchessonabudget

Was Kate Middleton about to cry?

In the many comments on the video that praised Kate Middleton for her ‘human’ and ‘real’ emotions, some fans even felt she was holding back tears. A fan said:

She is trying not to cry from pride from what she is hearing, I think. Of his retirement from the position.

Another two added:

Maybe the sigh and deep breath was to stop herself from crying?
I don't think she is nervous, I think she appears emotional at what PW [Prince William] was saying

Many also felt her having this very human experience shows her emotional side. One said:

she was certainly very emotional. on the verge of crying out. its good to see this emotional side of her.

Another chimed in:

She may have been a tad emotional, feeling sad for her husband relinquishing a role he dearly loved. Trying not to cry. Love Princess Kate! ❤️

Meanwhile, one believes it was merely overwhelming for the Princess:

She’s only human, I think she and William both realise their lives are changing the closer they get to the throne.
