The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is interested in fashion and likes to show it. The clothes she wears often end up out of stock after every public outing the couple makes, because many Royal fans rush to get the same clothes as their favourite couple, and especially their favourite Princess.

Although she often wears gowns from expensive designers, she can also be seen from time to time in cheaper pieces which can be easier to find and more affordable for the average person - if they are even available anymore!
Kate Middleton's outfits always flatter her figure
Many of you will certainly know the feeling: if a sweater or a pair of trousers fit you well and are comfortable, then you might be inclined to buy them twice. Princess Kate is also someone who buys her clothes in multiple versions. But what are the reasons why she buys the pieces in several colours and similar cuts?
The Princess of Wales knows her style very welland knows which cuts and colours suit her best. Thus, according to Gala, she knows that if the cut of a dress in red suits her, it will certainly flatter her in another colour too.
Continuity and consistency
Besides, her style always remains very similar, and very elegant. By not making big experiments with her appearance, she stands for continuity and consistency, Gala continues. This encourages people to believe that she is a reliable figure who remains the same through changing times. Reliability is especially important in the current situation, because there is truly enough drama in the Royal house!
In addition, she is very easily recognizable to Royal fans or average people, due to her time-resistant style - which, mind you, never looks boring! - and as we all know, it is extremely important that a member of the Royal family is recognized straight away when they walk into a venue. This recognition highlights even more the Princess' consistency through time.
A style evolution after becoming a Princess
When Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022, the Royal Family went through a reshuffling. Of course, Prince Charles became King Charles III and Camilla Parker-Bowles became the Queen Consort. But, Prince William and Kate Middleton also became the Prince and Princess of Wales - the titles for the couple next in line for the throne.
With said title, more responsibility was laid on the couple who needed to step up. As if Kate Middleton all of a sudden embraced her new level of professionalism, her style drastically changed.
According to Vanity Fair, the change actually started post pandemic, in 2021, when she started 'embracing flattering suiting'. In their article, the publication also highlight something interesting: the suits mean that sometimes her and Prince William match. That could be understood as a way for the Waleses to emphasise their team work as they navigate their new roles. In October 2023, Vogue wrote about her suit-mania saying:
A trouser suit is the ideal choice for a modern-day princess: it’s polished and timeless, but practical, too.
This more businesslike look also reinforces the message that the Firm—and Kate and William in particular—work hard.
Vogue also added that this change of style could be a way to 'shift the focus onto the cause the princess is spotlighting, and away from her much-scrutinised wardrobe'. However, royal watcher on TikTok, @matta_of_fact, challenged this idea stating:
The problem is that the work that Kate and the rest of the royals are doing is not interesting enough for that to be the topic of our conversation.
There might be some truth to it when one observes the amount of coverage the Princess' suits received in the Autumn. What do you think of Kate Middleton's new style?
