The King and Queen of the UK visited Jersey on Monday 15 July as a part of their official visit to the Channel Islands. It was their first trip to the Channel Islands, which are the Crown dependencies off the northwest coast of France since Charles became monarch.

Why were King Charles and Queen Camilla forced to leave their public engagement in Jersey?

According to the Mirror, the Royal couple was viewing an exhibition at a square in the capital St Helier when they were whisked off due to a concern. They were at an open-air expo when a member of the team raised a concern and Charles and Camilla were rushed out and taken into thenearby Pomme D'or hotel.

A Royal source said:

There was a small issue of concern, an investigation turned out to be a false alarm, every precaution was taken and the programme resumed shortly afterwards.

After a brief hiatus of 20 minutes, the event continued as usual and the King and Queen were taken back outside to meet local school children before being welcomed as guests to a tea party.

Witnesses describe the moment Charles and Camilla were evacuated

Fellow guests present at the event have come forward to reveal the exact moments when the King and Queen were forced to leave the event. Eamon Fenlon, managing director of Jersey Dairy confirmed he had just served ice cream to the Queen when she was ushered out of the expo. He said:

I had just given the Queen an ice cream and I turned back to get one myself before we had a chat. But when I turned back round she had been whisked off. Some of the other people told me it was a drone but whether that's official or not I don’t know.

Meanwhile, Matt Taylor, founder of Jersey Sea Salt revealed he was chatting to the King when his protection officer approached him and told him that the King ‘has to go.’ Matt said:

He stopped at the stall and said 'Ooh sea salt' and I said 'Come and have a chat, Sir.' Then his security appeared and grabbed me and said 'he has to go, now.'
He didn’t seem panicked but he was quite stern. They just ushered him out. It's a shame as he’d stopped to chat to us of his own accord.

The false alarm comes days after Trump’s assassination attempt after which the King also wrote a letter to the former POTUS.

BBC reported that the King had privately written a letter to Trump which was delivered on Sunday (July 14) via the UK embassy in Washington DC. The contents of the letter have not been made public but it is understood to express the same emotions as that of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Sir Keir said he was ‘appalled’ by the attack in a call with Trump.
