King Charles and Queen Camilla’s recent visit to Jersey, located between the southern coast of England and the northwestern coast of France, is making rounds for more reasons than one. After the minor security scare that forced the royal couple to evacuate their open-air expo, a footage of King Charles snapping at a Royal aide is gaining traction online.

The monarch - who was recently linked to a purchase of a $6 million condo in New York - was welcomed by rain and poor weather. As Charles and Camilla braved the rain during their landmark trip, a specific moment caught the attention of people.
King Charles seen snapping at an aide as Queen Camilla struggled with her coat
A livestream of the couple’s visit showed a moment where they were standing in a rainstorm watching an outdoor parade. In the footage, Newsweek reports, Camilla struggled to hold her umbrella while putting on her coat. Charles opened his umbrella first only to look to his left andrealise that his wife was struggling with her coat and her umbrella.
The 75-year-old attempted to help Camilla in putting on her coat before he frustratedly gestured for an aide to help her with the coat. According to OK! Magazine, he seemed to command:
Come and help her!
This isn’t the first time that the King is seen getting frustrated in public. During his accession council two days after becoming king, he lost his temper with aides over a tray of pens that was blocking his use of a table. Two days later, inkgate happened when he was seen cursing a fountain pen for leaking on his hand. In the footage circulating online, he was heard saying:
Oh God, I hate this pen! Can't bear this bloody thing! [It's] what they do every stinking time.
In 2023, on the day of his coronation, he appeared frustrated as he waited with Camilla in their carriage at Buckingham Palace before the event picked pace.
In the most recent events, he was seen getting frustrated with a page boy who was tending to his robe as he attended the State Opening of Parliament at the House of Lords yesterday (July 17). MailOnline reported that Charles abruptly pulled his hand back and took matters in his own hands as page boy William Sackville, the grandson of the 11th Earl De La Warr, attempted to place the fabric around the Sovereign's Throne.
The truth behind King Charles’ ‘easy’ public frustration events
Charles’ temper has been talked about a lot over the years. Veteran royal correspondent Valentine Low wrote in his 2022 book Courtiers that his outbursts can be fierce but they’re always brief. At times, it seems the monarch's body language also been misunderstood.
Body language expert Inbaal Honigman told the Daily Star that the pengate incident where he seemed to be frustrated over the tray of pens blocking his use of the table was rather misunderstood. Explaining how the monarch was ‘unjustly accused of having anger issues,’ Hongiman said that he was displaying ‘the unmistakable body language of a grieving son’
Hongiman argued that having lost both his parents and becoming the head of state in 18 months, he was ‘understandably tense and missing’ his parents. She added:
Of the five stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance - anger is probably the most visible.
When the King was reacting to situations with apparent anger - baring his teeth, scowling or shaking his head, he was acting out of character. The irritable behaviour displayed back then was in keeping with the natural reactions to grief.
