The most eligible woman in Britain
Sabrina Guinness was born on 9th January 1955 to Pauline and James Guinness. She is a brewery heiress and was considered one of Britain's most eligible women.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the heiress was often in the spotlight for her liaisons with A-list celebrities, including the future king, Prince Charles.
In the mid-nighties, Guinness created Youth Cable Television, which, per Wealthy Gorilla, is a charity aiming totrain disadvantaged youth to work in television.
Guinness finally tied the knot in 2014 with playwright, Sir Tom Stoppard. Her networth is reportedly around $100 million.
A royal suitor
In 1979, the then-Prince Charles met the brewery heiress. According to reports, the future king was ‘besotted’ with the 24-year-old.
Little is known of the pair’s nine-month liaison. According to reports, the couple often met secretly and publicly at polo matches and the theatre. She was considered to be the Prince's 'liveliest' girlfriend.
Princess Margaret even considered their relationship serious when Guinness began taking fly-fishing lessons, one of Charles III’s favourite hobbies.
However, when questioned about wedding bells ringing shortly, the heiress reportedly said:
I love being with him, but please don't try to marry us off.
The heiress also stated that Prince Charles wasn’t ‘ready for marriage yet.’ And a friend of Guinness’ also commented that the heiress herself ‘never displayed any real need to get married or desire to do so.’
A past unfit for the title of Queen
Despite the reported seriousness of their relationship, Prince Charles suddenly dumped Guinness. Not everyone in the royal household seemed ecstatic that the bride-hunting prince had eyes for Guinness.
Queen Elizabeth II was allegedly less than impressed with the heiress’ past. During a visit to Balmoral Castle, the Queen reportedly scolded the heiress for sitting in Queen Mary’s chair.
According to different publications, Guinness had dated a long list of A-list celebrities, such as Rod Steward, Mick Jagger and David Bowie. Even Michael Douglas, who reportedly once said, ‘I love Sabrina.’
It was reported that Guinness has also dated ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, but the singer refuted the rumours claiming that the pair were ‘old friends’.
A friend of Sabrina’s told The Daily Mail:
She's never been short of male admirers
