King Charles III reportedly vowed to have a slimmed-down coronation to match the money concerns of ‘his people’.

What is operation Golden Orb?

Operation Golden Orb is expected to get underway after the period of Royal mourning, reports The Mirror. It will allow King Charles III to explore various options for his coronation.

Plans for the King’s coronation have been years in the making, yet no official details have been released.

According to sources, King Charles prefers a summer date. This would allow His Majesty to undertake royal tours over the winter period.

A potential date for the King’s coronation would be 2nd June 2023, the 70th anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Camilla will likely be crowned Queen Consort during the King's coronation.

A monarchy in a modern world

With the current cost-of-living crisis ravaging Britain, King Charles has promised to have a slimmed-down coronation, per The Mirror.

It is said that the King is very aware of the financial concerns of many Britons with the rising costs of energy and food.

When speaking with Wales’ First Minister, Mark Drakeford, King Charles admitted his concerns ‘as to how people will manage through what is going to be a difficult winter.’

A royal source said:

Although his coronation ceremony should stay right and true to the long held traditions of the past, it should also be representative of a monarchy in a modern world.

Thus, the publication reveals the King’s coronation will be ‘shorter, smaller and less expensive’ than Queen Elizabeth’s.

The service is also expected to be more inclusive of ‘multi-faith Britain’ as the King is said to feel a ‘personal duty’ to conserve Britain’s diversity.

King Charles has long advocated for a slimmed-down monarchy. The King will likely use this event to launch his vision for ‘a modern monarchy.’
