Lady Louise Windsor is Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex’s oldest daughter. It is believed that she was Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite granddaughter. Lady Louise is one of the few royals who likes to keep a low profile. In 2022, she received her A-level results and her future plans were confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

Now, in 2023, as the British monarchy is still adjusting to a new monarch, her role within the Royal Family might change. Indeed, King Charles' lack of working royals could bring Lady Louise to the forefront.
Lady Louise follows in Prince William's footsteps
Now 20 years old, Lady Louise Windsor is in her second year at St Andrews University where her older cousin Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton studied. According to Mirror, Lady Louise is studying English.
St Andrews University is one of the country’s top universities with standard entry grades set at AAA and minimum entry grades for ABB for English. In 2022, a palace spokesperson announced:
Having received her A-level results today, Lady Louise will start at St Andrews University in September to study English.
Lady Louise Windsor’s mother—Sophie the Duchess of Edinburg—is reported to be happy as she wanted her to go to a university but never wanted to make that decision for her. She had previously said:
I wouldn’t force her, but if she wants to. She’s quite clever.
An effort at being relatable
In 2022, Lady Louise started many new chapters. Not only did she start going to university but she also took on a summer job at a garden centre. She definitely takes after her parents who are among the most hard-working Royal Family members.
It was revealed by The Sun that she was earning around £6.63 per hour at her summer job and worked for several hours there as soon as she finished her exams in June 2022. The Sun claims that her late grandfather, Prince Philip, would have been really proud of her granddaughter as she was especially close to him.
Lady Louise could become a working royal
Since King Charles ascended the throne after Queen Elizabeth II's death, Prince Edward and his wife have had to step up. They became the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and have since then been seen at countless functions. In June 2023, a clip of Prince William introducing the Duchess went viral as the two attended a movie premiere.
However, even though Prince Edwards and his wife have stepped up, King Charles' monarchy is still short of likable, relatable and young working royals. Indeed, since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their roles as senior members of the Royal Family, the average age of working royals has gone up, which isn't great for the future of the monarchy.
Since November 2023, rumours about Princess Beatrice and Eugenie becoming working royals have been going around but it would be difficult for them to work with the scandal around their father Prince Andrew lurking in the shadows.
Lady Louise would be a good 'replacement' as she is already well liked and devoid of any controversy. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams becoming a working royal was never in her plans but the expert explains that it 'could change.' He said:
The plans for her future, as outlined by her mother, the Duchess of Edinburgh, in 2020, do not involve royal duties but this could change.
