Before marrying into the Royal Family, Meghan Markle had her own lifestyle blog – The Tig. However, she shut the blog down some five and a half years ago as she prepared to become a Duchess from an actress.

Reviving passion
Meghan launched the blog in 2014 and in her last post while shutting it down, she described it as a ‘passion project’ that turned into ‘an amazing community’ involving ‘inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.’
The Tig is now a step closer to a resurrection as Meghan’s previous bid to trademark ‘The Tig’ name is ‘under examination’ by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Meghan previously filed an application to have The Tig trademark reactivated last year. Publicly available records confirmed that a new trademark application was filed by a firm that can be traced back to Meghan’s business manager – Andrew Mayer.
MailOnline reported that Meghan’s application was imperilled six months ago when it was rejected by the Patent & Trademark Office. It is believed that the rejection came on the basis of the website description being ‘too broad’ and unsigned paperwork.
This has now been rectified with the assistance of lawyer Danielle Weiss and a fee of $1,750 [£1,500] has been paid for the application.
Revised application
Meghan’s blog was once filled with everything under the sun about her life. From candid vacation photos to eulogies to her parents, from favourite recipes and interviews to inspirational words of wisdom – The Tig had it all.
Now, in a revised application Meghan has scrupulously set forth five classes in which she seeks a trademark for The Tig. These are:
- Travel, interior design (including 'environmentally conscious living')
- Food preparation (including cooking and recipes)
- Health and 'wellness', and personal relationships (including fashion and personal lifestyle).
Considering how the Sussex couple has been living their lives independently from The Firm and have actively taken up other media projects, a resurrection of Meghan’s blog wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
