Prince Harry and Meghan have two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. The couple tries to shield their children from the media and the public eye. Indeed the two youngsters are rarely seen in public and the couple hardly share any photos of them. In fact, the last official photo posted of one of their children was in 2022 for Lilibet’s 1st birthday.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended a World Mental Health Day event in New York on Tuesday, October 10. At this event, Meghan talked about social media's impact on young people and that she is scared of the day when her children will be of age to use social media.

Meghan Markle talks about the impact of social media

Meghan Markle is no stranger to social media. Before joining the Royal Family, she ran her own lifestyle blog The Tig and was active on Instagram, sharing snapshots of her life. When it was announced she was engaged to Prince Harry, she shut down the blog and her Instagram.

Before leaving the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan had a joint Instagram account which was also shut down in 2020.

At the panel at the World Mental Health Day event, Meghan recalled the ‘devastating’ experiences of other parents with social media.

A year ago when we met some of the families, not all of them, it was impossible to not be in tears as I'm sure so many of you have been today hearing these stories.
You can hear these stories again and again and again, and it's still going to have the same emotional impact because it's just that devastating.

Meghan Markle is worried about her children’s future

At the event, Meghan spoke about her two young children, Archie and Lilibet and how she is ‘frightened’ about their future due to social media. As reported by Daily Mail, Meghan explained that even though social media isn’t a direct threat as her children are still young and are unaware of what social media is, she knows that ‘social media is not going away’.

But I will say, I feel fortunate that our children are at an age, again, quite young, so this isn't in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened by how it's continuing to change.

She also added that her role as a mother is really important to her:

Being a mom is the most important thing in my entire life... outside of course being a wife to this one.
