Meghan faces backlash
However, she faced several backlashes for using her royal title to sign off a petition and possibly launch her own political career.
Missouri lawmaker Rep. Jason Smith believes that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, should be stripped off her royal title.
Smith told the Mail Online:
Ms. Markle's latest interference in U.S. politics reignites the question in my mind as to why the Royal Family does not simply strip her and Harry officially of their titles, particularly since she insists on sending this under the pretense of being the Duchess of Sussex.
Gertrude Daly, who runs the Gert’s Royal podcast, told the Daily Star that, Duchess of Susexx could be putting the royal family's long-standing neutrality at risk by getting involved in US politics. And that:

Certainly it is more complicated when a member of the British Royal Family is commenting on things related to a foreign government, even if she happens to be a citizen of that country.
They wanted the freedom to speak out on issues that they couldn't when they were working royals and essentially employees of the UK government.
People are downright incensed that she would use all her power to do the right thing. Meghan cited her concerns as an “engaged citizen” and a “parent” and a “mom.”
Modern success story
A few lines from the Duchess’ letter read:
I’m writing to you on behalf of millions of American families who are using their voices to say that comprehensive paid leave should not be a place to compromise or negotiate. In fact, most nations already have paid leave policies in place.
Despite the backlash, Meghan remains a modern-day success story, reminding us of a quintessential American dream. A mixed race woman, following her own path, who is now using her platform to make a difference in the lives of the average working Americans.
