It has been noted that the book was not written with any help from Meghan or Harry but close friends and staff helped collaborate on the tell-all. One story covered in the biography covers the night that Meghan and Harry's relationship hit the tabloids. According to a friend of Meghan's, the soon to be royal made a comment that revealed a harsh realisation about her future.
Meghan and Harry kept their relationship on the down-low for months because they knew that as soon as the public caught wind their lives would change dramatically.
During their time in secret, Harry would regularly fly to Canada to stay with Meghan and the actress would do the same to stay with her lover at the Kensington Palace.
Eventually, the press had caught wind of their relationship and the couple had just hours to prepare themselves before the information would appear on the front pages.
Scobie and Durand wrote in the book describing just what went down that night:
One night late in October in Toronto, Harry was happy, and so was Meghan. Until their received a call from one of Harry's aides at Kensington Palace. It wasn't good news. A tabloid was going to run with the story of their relationship. Their main worry was that her place would be besieged by photographers within 24 hours.
They continued:
They had little time to think, because there were only a couple of paparrazi in Toronto but it wouldn't be long before photographers flew in from New York and LA, all hoping to get that first picture of the happy couple.
The event caused Prince Harry's phone to erupt with calls from royal staff urging him to return home as his security team was slimmed down in the foreign country. But, Harry refused to leave Meghan's side.
The writers revealed that while Meghan was nervous about the paparazzi she was also happy that she would no longer have to lie to family and friends and received over 100 messages from them looking for gossip.
However, one worried message that Meghan had sent to a friend that showed just how unprepared the actress was for the level of fame that came with being involved with a royal:
The writers detailed that before meeting Harry the only camera time hat Meghan had was for work and red carpets and she wasn't quite prepared for what was to come:
The security was necessary. Shortly after the news broke, a photographer from an LA-based photo agency had scaled the fence into her back garden and waited for Meghan by her car, hoping to get a picture before she headed out to run errands.
The incident had terrified Markle and she ended up calling the police. The suits actress then sent a message to a friend saying:
This is how it's always going to be, isn't it?
