Earlier this week, the UK’s Met police announced that they would not be opening an investigation into the sex assault allegations put on Prince Andrew by Virginia Giuffre. The news must have come as a huge relief to the royal as he was seen grinning from ear to ear while driving his Range Rover the very next day.

Sigh of relief
Understandably, his smile, which was captured on camera just at the nick of time, does not imply that he is completely content with the situation he is in. Nor does it indicate that he is free of the charges against him as he still faces a lawsuit in the United States. However, the Met dropping the case was definitely considered a win for the royal and his legal team. In fact, a source close to the Duke of York told Mail Online, that the lawyers very much expected these results. He said:
It comes as no surprise that the Met Police have confirmed that, having reviewed the sex assault claims against The Duke for a third time, they are taking no further action.
Despite pressure from the media and claims of new evidence, the Met have concluded that the claims are not sufficient to warrant any further investigation. The Duke has always vigorously maintained his innocence and continues to do so.
Unhappy nephew
Innocent or not, the Prince has been getting full support from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
However, other members of the royal family including his nephew William, do not seem to be on his side. According to an insider, Prince William believes that the controversy around his uncle is a considerable ‘threat to the royal family.’ He told The Times:
Any suggestion that there isn't gratitude for the institution, anything that could lead anyone in the public to think that senior members of the royal family aren't grateful for their position, [William thinks] is really dangerous.
