How much does he make vs how much he spends
According to reports, the royal receives a £250,000 stipend granted to him by the Queen as well as a £20,000 pension from the navy. And although £270,000 is not a bad sum of money to be making annually, it doesn’t actually cover even a fraction of the lavish lifestyle he and ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, like to lead.
Royal family expert, Tom Bower, has said that both Andrew and Ferguson have always had an appetite for the finer things in life. He explained that:
[Sarah and Andrew] have an appetite for luxury which is beyond the understanding of mere mortals. There’s a sense of entitlement in it all that is the real problem. They think nothing is too much for them.
Numbers don't add up
An analysis by The Times has found that the Duke has spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on cars alone. Not to mention, he is reportedly a keen collector of luxury watches, some of which are worth around six figure digits. Not only this, he is also said to have financially supported Ferguson and daughters Beatrice and Eugenie for several years.
Even more particular is that earlier this year, the royal was sued by French socialite Isabelle de Rouvre after he was unable to make the last payment of a luxury chalet in a Swiss ski resort worth £6.6 million.
So, the question remains, how can he afford what seems to be an extremely glamorous lifestyle with such little income?
