Prince Philip was ‘terrifying’
Hello! Magazine reported that Prince Philip went out of his way to avoid interacting with Sarah after her split and the two kept a considerable distance between them. Sarah recently opened up about her fractured bond with the Duke as she claimed he was a ‘very wise’ man.
Sarah told Life's A Beach podcast host:
Yes, very wise. You had to be on your best. If you asked a silly comment, you were certainly told it was a silly comment. Terrifying.
'Why are you asking me that? I do it every day. Why are you asking me that?' Urgh! And then you lose all confidence.
Remembering her bond with her late father-in-law, Fergie revealed the advice that she received from him as a part of the Royal Family. She revealed:
The Duke Of Edinburgh used to say, 'Remember Sarah, you’ve got to be electable but never elected.’ Nice. Yes. Resonates, right?

Sarah’s scandal that changed everything
According to Daily Express, Sarah and Prince Philip’s relationship fell apart in 1992 when intimate pictures of Sarah and her financial advisor John Bryant were published in the media. The images were published months after the palace had officially revealed Sarah and Prince Andrew’s separation.
The Duchess was at Balmoral Castle when the news took over and endured the fury of both the late Queen and Prince Philip. The Queen‘admired the way the Duchess has not only been such a good mother to Beatrice and Eugenie,’ but Prince Philip apparently never got over the scandal of 1992.
Royal expert Camilla Tominey said:
He apparently never forgave her for ‘toe-gate’, when compromising images of her cavorting with her financial adviser, the Texan millionaire John Bryant, were splashed across the front pages while she was holidaying with her in-laws at Balmoral Castle in 1992.
The Duchess had to suffer the ignominy of an ‘excruciating’ breakfast during which a ‘furious’ Queen pored over the pictures of ‘Fergie’s stolen kisses’.
Despite their differences, the Duke attended both of her daughters’ weddings.
