Second royal couple to have received the jab
This comes as both Princes Charles, 72, and Camilla, 73 are part of the most vulnerable age bracket that is currently being urged to receive the jab if they have not yet done so. The Queen herself and Prince Philip have received their dose last month.
Details regarding which of the vaccine the royals received remains unknown at the moment.
So far, about 12.6 million people in the UK have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The UK government had previously stated that their goal was to vaccinate all those over the age of 70 by mid February which they are well on their way to achieving.
Current situation in the UK
The next course of action having publicly been revealed by officials is to vaccinate everyone over the age of 50 by May.
Current figures show that the spread of the virus has dramatically reduced since the peak of the third wave began late last year with numbers yesterday, 9 February 2021, hitting a low at just over 12,000 new daily infection rates.
Matt Hancock revealed that the only way of ensuring that these numbers remain at a lower rate is to impose strict travel measures to avoid bringing any new mutated variants of the virus into the UK. The hotel quarantine scheme as well as new harsh consequences for breaking travel rules are the latest developments in an attempt at containing the virus.
