Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles to make surprising appearance on popular British soap

The cameo appearance of the royal couple was filmed in March. According to BBC, the episode's plot will occur at a house party hosted by Mick and Linda Carter, two of the show's leading protagonists. The party will be held to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be playing themselves where they will be introduced to the inhabitants of Albert Square by Mick and Linda. Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of the series, was delighted about this special appearance on the show. He shared to the BBC:

Kellie Bright, who plays Linda, was also excited about the presence of the royal family. She said:

However, this is not the first time the royal family has made a guest appearance on television. In 2001, the Queen visited soap queen Dame Barbara Windsor, who played Peggy Mitchell, on the set of EastEnders. Prince Charles also previously appeared on Coronation Street in 2000 to mark the 40th anniversary of the show.
